Road managers' responsibility for delivering data
Road managers must submit data to NVDB – both for new measures, changes to road objects and after reconstruction of the road.
What do the Road Data and Traffic Information Regulations say?
The regulations regulate the responsibilities of the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, county councils, municipalities and state-owned development companies. It includes:
- Collection, quality assurance, dissemination and availability of data about the road network and traffic
- Traffic monitoring, traffic management, emergency response and traffic information for public roads
- Traffic safety work and accident analysis
(Excerpt from Section 1-2 of the regulations – Scope (lovdata.no))
Data delivery to NVDB
The regulations cover several disciplines. The "Dataleveranse til Nasjonal vegdatabank" page has an overview of requirements and routines for data deliveries to NVDB, and how the deliveries should be carried out in practice.
During 2025, requirements and routines for data delivery will be revised in collaboration with road managers.
