Product specifications for the object types in NVDB
Product specifications contain definitions and rules for how each road object type should be registered in NVDB. Everyone who registers data in NVDB must familiarize themselves with these.
With over 400 different road object types in NVDB, it can be challenging to know what is what and how the objects should be registered. The product specifications should make this easier.
A product specification will:
-
describe how data will be collected and registered
-
ensure everyone has the same understanding of the object type and what to expect from the data
The Norwegian Public Roads Administration is responsible for preparing product specifications for the various road object types, but it is important that everyone who registers data in NVDB is thoroughly familiar with it.
Here you will find an overview of all finished product specifications (vegvesen.no).
You can also find the product specification for a specific road object type in Dakat or in the NVDB Data catalogue. See the examples in the images at the bottom of the page.
More product specifications are being prepared and will be published on an ongoing basis. Existing specifications are updated as needed. Those that are available in Word format (DOCX) are more recent. Older versions are only available in HTML and PDF format, and will eventually be replaced by new versions.
